MOUNT VERNON - A Cedar Rapids man was injured when the pickup he was driving crashed into a farm field north of Mount Vernon early Friday.

Edmond Miles, 25, was northbound on Highway 1 near Washington Street around 2:40 a.m. when he lost control of the pickup and it went into the west ditch, according to the Linn County Sheriff’s Office. The vehicle stopped about 100 yards from the roadway in a field.

An air ambulance flew Miles to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for treatment of what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries. A hospital spokeswoman said information about his condition was not being released.

Sheriff Brian Gardner said weather conditions were not a factor in the crash.
