CEDAR RAPIDS - The Cedar Rapids Police Station and Mercy Medical Center spent part of Friday on generators after power went down for at least 318 downtown Alliant Energy customers late Friday morning.

Alliant crews worked on a transformer that tripped -- kind of like a circuit breaker -- at a downtown substation.

Alliant reports that all customers had power restored by one o'clock Friday afternoon.
