Man Arrested Following Fight Over Christmas Tree

FORT MADISON (AP) - An eastern Iowa man has been arrested after he allegedly hit his girlfriend with branches from a Christmas tree.

Police have charged Kevin Shrum, 41, of Fort Madison with
simple domestic abuse assault. Police say Shrum and his girlfriend got into a fight over where to put the Christmas tree.

The disagreement escalated, and Shrum reportedly took some of
the branches off the tree and used them to strike the woman. Police say the woman's injuries were minor.
