ALBIA, Iowa (AP) — An October trial has been scheduled for a 75-year-old man accused of killing his brother outside his brother's home in southern Iowa.

The trial had been delayed while authorities waited for results of a psychological assessment of Richard Davis, of Albia. Court records say that late last month Davis was ruled competent for trial. The Ottumwa Courier says the trial has been scheduled to begin on Oct. 22.

Authorities say Richard Davis shot to death Dr. Gary Davis in Albia on Feb. 15 last year. Richard Davis is charged with first-degree murder, which carries an automatic prison term of life behind bars.
