By Zack Kucharski

A former Oxford man accused of four October bank robberies was ordered to remain in federal custody Wednesday after pleading not guilty to federal robbery charges.

Jason Lee Bowers, 33, entered not guilty pleas to four counts of armed bank robbery and four firearms charges Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Davenport. Trial is set for Jan. 4.

Bowers, arrested by the FBI Oct. 23, was indicted last week and is accused of an Oct. 9 robbery in Slater, an Oct. 16 robbery in St. Charles, an Oct. 17 heist in Rippey, and the Oct. 21 robbery of First Trust Savings Bank in Oxford.

In each heist, the robber displayed a gun and stole a vehicle to flee the scene, federal court records state.
