Unpaid Parking Tickets? Prepare to be Towed in Downtown CR

CEDAR RAPIDS -- In order to improve management of the City’s Downtown parking spaces and to provide the spaces needed for shoppers and visitors to Downtown, Cedar Rapids Parking, the parking management agency of the City of Cedar Rapids, on November 30, 2009 will begin to tow and impound vehicles belonging to individuals who do not pay their parking tickets.
Anyone who has five of more unpaid citations and parks on a City Street, Lot or Parkade, may have their vehicle towed and impounded.
The vehicle can be re-claimed once all citations and late fees are paid. There will also be a towing charge of $45 by the City’s towing contractor. Additional fees may be incurred is the vehicle is not reclaimed within 24 hours.
