Police Investigate Shooting in Sabula

SABULA - One person is in the hospital and another behind bars after an early morning shooting in Jackson County.

Around 1:30 Sunday morning, police in Sabula found Sheldon Woodhurst, 46, shot in the stomach at the Lucky 7 Bar on Pearl Street. Woodhurst was taken to Mercy Medical Center in Clinton, then airlifted to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

Another man, David Zabransky, 46, of Paletine, Illinois was treated and released from the hospital. Police arrested Zabransky on an attempted murder charge. He'll make his initial appearance in court on Monday.
