Senate Confirms Two New US Attorneys for Iowa

By Aaron Hepker

WASHINGTON (AP) - The U.S. Senate has confirmed a lawyer and federal prosecutor as Iowa's next U.S. attorneys.

The Senate on Saturday confirmed Stephanie Rose for U.S. Attorney for Northern Iowa and Nick Klinefeldt for U.S. Attorney for Southern Iowa. Their terms will be four years. Both were recommended by Iowa Sen. Tom Harkin in March. He says both "will fairly and vigorously enforce the law."

Rose has been a prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney's office in the
Northern District of Iowa for 12 years. She becomes the first
female chief federal prosecutor in Iowa in 30 years.

Klinefeldt practiced criminal law in Boston and has worked for the last three years in the Des Moines law firm Ahlers & Cooney. He was the Iowa counsel for the Obama campaign and a former Harkin aide.
