WATERLOO - Police have arrested a second person in connection with the burglary and armed robbery incident that took place at 119 Conger Street on Wednesday morning.

When officers arrived at the scene several persons fled from the residence.

One of them, later identified as Corey Damone Crawley, 18, got in a parked vehicle. Responding officers surrounded Crawley in their patrol cars in an attempt to detain him. Crawley then sped backwards in his car, ramming into one of the occupied patrol cars that was sitting behind him.

As he attempted to flee, Waterloo Police officer Kristen Loney, a 10-year veteran, who was outside of her patrol car at the time, fired several rounds into his vehicle striking Crawley.

Crawley was transported to Allen Hospital where he was admitted for treatment of his wounds and eventually released to police custody on Friday.

Crawley is charged with robbery, burglary, possession with intent to deliver, assault on a peace officer, and criminal mischief.

Crawley is being held in the Black Hawk County Jail on $225,000.00 bond.

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and the Waterloo Police Department conducted the investigation into this incident.

Per Department policy, Officer Loney was placed on administrative leave pending further investigation into this incident.
