BUTLER COUNTY - The man accused of killing Aplington-Parkersburg football coach Ed Thomas will not go to trial for eluding police until next year.

A judge postponed Mark Becker's trial from December 8th until January 12th in Butler County.

Police accuse Becker of leading police on a chase the weekend before he allegedly shot Thomas back in June.

After his arrest, Becker was admitted to a Waterloo hospital for evaluation, but was released.

Police say he shot Thomas the day after his release.

Becker is charged with first-degree murder. A trial date in that case hasn't been set.
