WATERLOO - Police investigating a home invasion at 119 Conger street Wednesday morning shot a suspect running from the scene.

Waterloo police were in the area around 10:50 a.m. when a passerby saw three men break into a home and called police.

Then police say the three men took off and ran through the back yard while they were carrying guns. They made it a couple of blocks before police stopped them.

An officer shot one of the suspects and took another into custody. The third man got away. Police say the man they shot is at the hospital with non life threatening injuries.

Neighbors tell TV9 they're tired of all the violence on their street.

"We're trying our best to get our finances together so we can move out of here. Anywhere but here. This neighborhood is constantly one big problem," said Wesley Becker.

The officer who shot the suspect is on paid leave while the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation looks into the matter. This is all standard procedure and police are still searching for that 3rd suspect.

The Waterloo Police are conducting the investigation into the home invasion.
