Woman Wears Wire, Man Charged with Assault

NORTH LIBERTY - Johnson County Sheriff’s deputies caught a North Liberty man Friday for allegedly assaulting a woman who he had been harassing.

The deputies had the woman wear a hidden listening device into the residence of Sammy Hanna, 38, and he harassed the woman and proceeded to begin to sexually assault her and the deputies had to push themselves into the apartment, according to criminal complaints.

He also had tried to contact the woman’s family by phone and computer numerous times, according to the complaint.

Hanna is being held at the Johnson County Jail on a $13,000 cash and was charged with assault with intent to commit sexual abuse and first-degree harassment.
