CEDAR RAPIDS - A Cedar Rapids woman will get a new home after she says contractors damaged her already flood-damaged home.

Crews demolished Wendy Beard's flood-damaged house on Monday to make way for a new one.

The city declared her home unsafe after contractors tried to repair flood damage.

The group Block-by-Block worked with Jumpstart to buy a house that Methwick Senior Center planned to tear down.

The group will move the house to replace Beard's now demolished home.

"It feels great that we're able to work together with the city to get this accomplished and Wendy has been very happy and receptive and I think she'll be a great addition to the block again when she gets back there," said Matt Mayer, Block by Block project manager.

Block by Block hopes to have Wendy Beard and her family back on their block in this new home by Christmas.
