DES MOINES - Governor Chet Culver has not officially announced that he'll run for re-election. But financial records show the first term Governor never stopped when it comes to fund raising.

The Iowa Ethics and Campaign Disclosure Board reports Governor Culver already pulled in one and a half million in campaign cash by the end of 2008.

A report on campaign contributions this year isn't due until January. Culver's campaign manager says fundraising will top any amount ever raised by a Democratic gubernatorial candidate in Iowa.

There are a number of candidates for the Republican nomination. Jerry Behn, Christian Fong, Christopher Rants, Rod Roberts and Bob Vander Plaats are running.

Former governor Terry Branstad is considering a run for his former job.

He's organized a campaign team but made no formal announcement.
