Flood Damaged Properties Demolished in Linn County

A flooded-damaged cabin along the Cedar River on Upper Palisades Lane near Mount Vernon is the first of 18 buildings in rural Linn County to be demolished as part of a voluntary program. LINN COUNTY - Demolition work is underway in rural Linn County. Eighteen flood damaged properties are being torn down.

It's part of the Imminent Threat Demolition Program, that funds the removal of of buildings that are near collapse or pose a public health threat.

Demotion should be complete by Thanksgiving.

FEMA will reimburse the county for most of the cost. The state will pick up the rest.
