IOWA CITY - Hawkeye fans are hoping the team improves to 10-0 Saturday at Kinnick Stadium. Each Saturday fans have their own traditions and unique vantage points for watching the game.

"We're right here where the players come in and it's pretty sweet," said one avid Hawks fan. An hour before kickoff and the best seats in the student section are gone. Getting those seats means showing up before 7:00 a.m.

"The excitement the atmosphere, everything, you're up close, you get to see everything first hand."

But others have no interest in that.

"We usually get a pretty good group of people up here, 20, 50, 60 depending on the weather and what game it is," said Peter Holmes or Clinton.

"You get to have all of the fun of everyone in the stadium, but you also get to have beverages of your choice up here," some fans told us.

"We've got about 5 gallons of jungle juice in the gas can over there. You get to experience the game drunk out here in the cold," another rooftop fan said.

The view is obstructed - only about half of the field is visible - but the key, is in the pregame positioning.

"If you hold the corner, you hold the wall, 'cause if you get in this corner, you can do whatever you want, if you're not in the corner, you're going to be over in left field behind someone's truck," one longtime roof-goer said.

So while some clamor for a front row seat in the stadium, others are perfectly content with a prime parking spot.

Fans say, "You're right across the street, you got the announcer, you got the scoreboard, you can still see the game, it's just a heck of a lotta fun."

"We've been doing it for years and we're going to keep doing it for years."

Guess now, the secret is out.
