Man Pleads Guilty to Assaulting Officer

CEDAR RAPIDS (AP) - A Cedar Rapids man has pleaded guilty to assault charges in connection with the beating of a police officer.

Everett Lindsay entered the guilty plea to assault and interference with officials acts with injury charges on Thursday in Linn County District Court.

The 32-year-old Lindsay was accused of assaulting Officer Robert Boyer on Aug. 11, as the officer responded to a suspicious person reports.

According to prosecutors, Lindsay swung a chain and padlock at Boyer, causing minor injuries to his head.
