GRUNDY CENTER (KCRG & AP) - A jury has found Michelle Kehoe guilty of killing her 2-year-old son and injuring the boy's older brother.

The jury deliberated for about two hours before returning its verdict early Thursday afternoon. The panel found the 36-year-old Coralville woman guilty of first-degree murder, attempted murder and child endangerment.

She faces a mandatory sentence of life in prison.

She was accused of driving her two children to a pond near Littleton, where she covered their faces with duct tape before slicing their throats with knife on Oct. 26, 2008.

Two-year-old Seth Kehoe died in the attack. His 7-year-old brother, Sean, survived.

Kehoe's attorney didn't dispute the facts of the case but argued that Kehoe suffered from a mental illness and couldn't fully understand her actions.
