No Action in Alleged Illegal Strip-Search at High School

By Becky Ogann

ATLANTIC (AP) - Officials at Atlantic High School haven't recommended any action be taken after an investigation into an alleged illegal strip-search of several girls in August.

A report by a lawyer for the school district confirms the incident happened but it doesn't conclude whether school policy or state law was followed, or whether any faculty members involved should face discipline.

Several girls were searched over an alleged theft in a gym class.

Matt Hudson, a lawyer for one of the students' families, says he was disappointed the report didn't contain any direction.

Atlantic Superintendent Dan Crozier says steps will be taken, but he has to see what requests are made.
