ROBINS - Two men went to the hospital after a crash between a pickup and a truck used to haul glass on Monday morning.
The collision happened around 7:10 a.m. at the intersection of County Home Road and C Avenue Extension, north of Robins. The glass truck, driven by Jared Goettsch, 29, of Cedar Rapids, pulled out in front of a westbound pickup driven by Dennis Farrington, 64, of Central City, according to the Linn County Sheriff’s Office.
Ambulances took Farrington to St. Luke’s Hospital and Goettsch to Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. Sheriff’s Sgt. Gary VanCura said their injuries were not considered life-threatening.
The glass truck was not carrying any sheets of glass when the accident happened. Traffic backed up on County Home Road around the accident scene for about an hour, until both lanes were cleared.
Goettsch was charged with failure to yield, the sheriff’s office said.
