Head-on Crash Near Waukon Kills One

WAUKON - The Allamakee County Sheriff's Office says an 85-year-old woman is dead after a head-on collision Monday morning.

The crash happened just after 10:00 a.m. just south of Waukon on Highway 9.

Officials say an SUV driven by a 39-year-old female was driving northbound on highway 9, crossed the center line, and struck a car in the opposite direction.

Both drivers were transported to Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. The 85-year-old driver of the car was pronounced dead from injuries sustained in the crash.

Names of those involved are being withheld until family members are notified.
