CASCADE - An NFL player is trading sacking quarterbacks for sacking groceries. Earlier this year, the Brothers Market reopened as the only grocery store in Parkersburg. The tornado last year destroyed the old one. Parkersburg native and Detroit Lions defensive end Jared Devries helped build the store with his three brothers. On Sunday, the four brothers again brought groceries to an area that needs them. This time opening Cascade's first grocery store in about four years.

Cascade is home to about 2,000 people. It has a high school, a football team, a pizza place. But for the past four years it did not have a grocery store. Cascade resident Viba Vetzner said, "We had to go over to Monticello or up to Dyersville for a grocery store or into Dubuque which is 30 miles away for us."

Those trips won't be necessary anymore.

The town was stocked with smiles and thank you's Sunday as Cascade cut the ribbon on the new Brothers grocery store.

NFL star and Parkersburg native Jared Devries and his three brothers are behind the store. The group says the plight of Cascade hit home. Jared said, "After we had the chance to build the grocery store in Parkersburg and see what could happen with a small community like that it just really seemed like an opportunity we just couldn't pass up."

The store is still empty and will be until its grand opening in January.

The brothers say that for now Brothers Market will remain in Cascade and Parkersburg, but future projects are not out of the question.
