By Daren Sukhram

INDIANOLA (AP) - A 79-year-old central Iowa man has entered a not guilty plea on charges of hitting and killing a bicyclist.

Paul L. McKinney of Winterset on Monday entered a written plea of not guilty to the charges of hit and run and obstructing prosecution. He also waived his right to a speedy trial.

McKinney is charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident, obstruction of prosecution by destruction of evidence and failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle.

McKinney is accused of driving a pickup that hit and killed Mark Grgurich of Des Moines in rural Warren County on Aug. 30.

A pretrial hearing was set Nov. 17 at the Warren County courthouse. A trial was scheduled for Dec. 3.
