ANAMOSA - Stepping in from the cold October winds and snowflakes, hundreds of people took in the upgrade the Jones Regional Medical Center looks to offer.

"The other one is old and can't be expanded anymore," Marty Roland of Anamosa said as she walked the lobby.

Ernie and Joanne Buresh have lived in Cedar Rapids for two decades. Yet Jones County lives on in Ernie's heart. The Bureshes name is above the hospital's entrance to honor their $1 million donation to the medical center.

"You have to give back," Ernie Buresh said. "You can't just be taking all of the time. Jones County was good to us and we still come back. I still come here and get my hair cut."

Yet the Buresh family was far from the only major donors. The hospital reports the Family of Eloise Sutherland Helgens donated $920,000. Edwin and Eloise Helgens also gave $250,000. In total, more than 850 donors helped raise $4 million for the $12.8 million dollar facility.

The new facility will accept patients on Tuesday, starting at midnight. Jones Regional Medical Center CEO Sean Williams said that, compared with the current building, the new hospital should follow the trends more effectively.

"Back when the (current) hospital was built, 80% of our service was inpatient care," Williams said. "Now 80% is outpatient care."

The hospital says people can benefit from these features:
- Private emergency rooms.
- Accomodations for 22 inpatients.
- 600-square foot surgery suite.
- More private rooms for physical, occupational and speech therapies.

The new Jones Regional Medical Center is located at 1795 Highway 64 in Anamosa, just east of the US-151 bypass.
