WAVERLY (AP) - A teenager convicted of voluntary manslaughter in the stabbing death of another teen has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Sebastian Trimble of Sumner was convicted in August by a Bremer County jury. He had been charged with first-degree murder in the August 2008 death of 18-year-old Raymond Randall, also of Sumner, but the jury convicted him of the lessor charge.

Judge Chris Foy on Monday also ordered the 17-year-old Trimble to pay more than $161,000 in restitution to Randall's family and to the state.

In a witness impact statement, Randall's mother, Tammy Nelson, told Trimble prison was a good place for him, adding that her son's killer got away with murder.

Bremer County Attorney Kasey Wadding expressed unhappiness with the amount of time allowed under Iowa law as a penalty for voluntary manslaughter.
