DES MOINES (AP) - A newspaper reports it has learned that the Atlantic High School student whose complaint of missing money led to an alleged strip search of other students is the daughter of a teacher at the school.
The Des Moines Register reported Thursday that the girl who reported $100 missing is the daughter of English teacher Allison Berryhill.
Berryhill and district superintendent Dan Crozier didn't respond Wednesday to the newspaper's requests for information.
Five girls were ordered to submit to a search during a gym class Aug. 21. Attorneys for the girls say the student who complained of the missing money and a female counselor watched as the girls removed their clothing, lifted their underwear, and in one case stripped completely.
Some of the girls' parents believe it constituted a strip search, which is illegal in Iowa schools.
