MONTEZUMA - A man was found naked, bleeding and disoriented in Montezuma early Wednesday after he reportedly drank antifreeze, authorities said.

Poweshiek County emergency dispatchers received a call at 5:21 a.m. about a man who had drank antifreeze and was vomiting. Before an ambulance could arrive, a second 911 caller claimed the man had broken through some glass doors and was “roaming around the city of Montezuma, bleeding.”

Deputies found Derek Winchell, 20, of Montezuma, in a parking lot in the 400 block of North Fourth Street. He was transported to Grinnell Regional Medical Center, where he was stabilized, and then flown to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, authorities said.

No information about his condition was immediately available.
