CRAWFORD COUNTY, WI. - An Iowa City man was killed when he was thrown from his motorcycle while riding near the SE Wisconsin town of Gays Mills.
It happened just before 2:00 Saturday afternoon. David Ryan, 39, of Iowa City, was riding with a group of eight other motorcyclists just east of Gays Mills when deputies say he rounded a steep curve and locked the brakes, attempting to avoid a minivan.
Ryan was thrown from him motorcycle and pronounced dead at the scene.
Two other motorcyclist were hospitalized after crashing into the van; Troy Bjerke, 45, and Gerald Risch, 45, both of Illinois.
Crawford County Sheriff's department says that speed was a factor in the crash, and alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
The road was closed for about four hours.
All three motorcyclists were wearing helmets.
The crash remains under investigation.
