CEDAR RAPIDS - Westdale Mall in Cedar Rapids was bursting at the seams with creativity on Thursday.

Inside, hundreds of school kids wowed judges with unusual ways to solve everyday problems. Inventions like the triple pizza slicer, strawberry popper topper and the unstinkable bag.

Working in pairs, eastern Iowa kids in grades third through eighth came up with a solution to make daily tasks a bit easier.

All of these inventors were the top winners at their schools. On Thursday they're competing at the regional level. Judges from all of the schools quizzed the contestants about their ideas.

Some were so clever that the judges agree it would certainly be nice to take some home. But that's not an option, especially since about 30 of the entries are going on to the state competition in April.
