CEDAR RAPIDS - Cedar Rapids Police say they have made an arrest in last summer's duck killing at Bever Park Zoo.

Zachary Kanellis, 19, of Cedar Rapids was arrested Wednesday and charged with Criminal Mischief 2nd (Class D Felony) and Livestock Abuse (Aggravated Misdemeanor). Kanellis was arrested and taken to Linn County Jail.

On June 25, 2008, 50 ducks were found dead in the Schucknecht Exhibit at Bever Park. The cages were locked about 5:30 pm on Tuesday, June 24, 2008. When workers arrived on June 25, 2008, at about 7:00 am, they found the building lock had been broken as well as the locks on the cages. It appeared as if all the ducks had been stoned to death.

Police say a tip from the Crime Stoppers hotline lead to the arrest.

Cedar Rapids police continue to investigate.
