DUBUQUE - Protestors of Planned Parenthood in launch new efforts to force the clinic in Dubuque to close its doors. Protestors stand outside the center with signs every minute that Planned Parenthood is open for business. Now they're launching a multi-media campaign with what they say are the true facts about Planned Parenthood.
Organizers hope these messages will stop patients from using this center- and ultimately drive them out of business.
Get a good look at these signs. Dubuque County Right to Life’s, Steve Brody says you'll be seeing them all over Dubuque, along with billboards, radio and newspapers ads.
Brody said, "this is an organization that's deeply rooted in the killing of unborn, if you want to go get pregnancy tests. If you want to get breast cancer screenings. Anything else Planned Parenthood provides you do not have to go down to Central Avenue."
But local Planned Parenthood CEO Joe Lock says the center is here to stay. He says they served almost seven hundred patients in their first year- and are advocates of a woman's right to choose.
Lock said, "Women are moral and thoughtful decision makers and that we help women. We provide them with a full range of options and help them make a responsible choice that is right for them."
Brody said, "ultimately they will have to make the business, economic decision, like they have across the country whether it's economically feasible to remain or if it's just not worth it."
Dubuque County Right to Life says these new ads will begin as early as today. They say they raised enough money to pay for the ads for at least one year.
