CEDAR RAPIDS - One man is in custody after a high-speed chase that ended in a mobile home park.

Cedar Rapids police responded to the area near the Five Seasons Manufactured Home Community, 3421 Blairs Ferry Rd. NE, to assist Hiawatha police in a chase just after 1 p.m.

Dallas Murray, 14, of Palo, was at his grandmother's house when he heard the sirens. He said a man drove a beige-colored car about 50 mph through the mobile home park, and into a grassy area, when the car hit a gas line.

The suspect ran from the car and was later arrested nearby, he said. K9 unit dogs helped find the suspect, Murray said.

No one appeared to be injured in the incident. A crew from MidAmerica Energy assessed the gas line, but no leak was found.

"It's not every day you see a police chase in front of your grandma's house," Murray said.
