EVANSDALE - Investigators are looking for the cause of a fire at a Evansdale group home.

Firefighters were called to the Exceptional Persons, Incorporated house around 2:00 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.

Chris Sparks, the executive director of the facility says 11 people with intellectual disabilities lived at the home, but no one was inside at the time of the fire.

Sparks says fire walls and doors contained the blaze to a commons area, but other parts of the building had smoke and water damage.

Residents will spend a night or two in a motel before they are relocated to other area facilities.

Sparks says the fire started in the kitchen. The cause is under investigation.
