DES MOINES (AP) - State officials say an investigation is under way into questions raised in an audit over tuition paid to a state-run school in Cedar Falls.
Iowa attorney general spokesman Bob Brammer says the office is serving as prosecutor in the matter, which includes an audit of the Malcolm Price Laboratory School at the University of Northern Iowa. Brammer declined further comment Monday.
A state audit revealed a dozen parents who saved money on tuition because they listed incorrect addresses on school forms.
One of the parents named in the audit is Democratic state Rep. Kerry Burt of Waterloo. The audit shows Burt listed a Cedar Falls address on school records, saving him about $37,000 in tuition.
A telephone message left Monday for Burt was not immediately returned.
