Cedar Rapids Man Charged with Qwik Stop Robbery

VINTON - Police on Monday filed criminal charges against Christopher Daniel Taylor, 27, of Cedar Rapids in connection with the July 5 alleged robbery of John's Qwik Stop in Vinton.
Taylor was arrested on Benton County Warrants by officers of the Cedar Rapids Police Department overnight Thursday. Taylor was on probation with the Iowa Department of Corrections at the time the incident occurred.
Taylor has been charged with Burglary in the 2nd Degree, and Theft in the 2nd Degree by Vinton Police in connection with this incident.
Taylor is an acquaintance of the convenience store clerk working at the time of the alleged incident, and the investigation has revealed that Taylor and the clerk worked in collusion with each other, and that the incident was staged to appear to be a Robbery.
Charges are pending against the convenience store clerk.
Burglary in the 2nd Degree is a Class "C" Felony in Iowa, punishable by up to 10 years in prison, a $10,000 fine, or both. Theft 2nd Degree is a Class "D" Felony, punishable by up to 5 years in prison, a $7,500 fine, or both.
