AP - A Madrid man has pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide after he drove the wrong way on US Highway 30 and killed a man in a head-on collision.

Phillip Stephens was driving eastbound in the westbound lane of the highway in October when his van collided with a car driven by Jonathan Baugh of West Des Moines. Baugh, 17, died at the scene.

Stephens' plea was part of a plea agreement reached yesterday with Story County prosecutors. In November, Stephens had pleaded not guilty to multiple charges, including vehicular homicide, reckless driving, serious injury by vehicle, operating while intoxicated and driving while his license was revoked.

If convicted, Stephens faces up to 25 years in prison.
