Two Minors Charged with Arson in Park Fire

CEDAR RAPIDS - An 11-year-old and a 13-year-old have been charged with arson after police say they started a restroom pavilion on fire.

It happened back on June 29th at Cedar Valley Park in Cedar Rapids.

Benjamin Brecht, 11, and Austin Michael Meyers, 13, both of Cedar Rapids, were charged with second degree arson, which is a class "C" felony. They were referred to the Juvenile Court Office and released to their parents.

Cedar Valley Park is located near Blakely Boulevard and Otis Road SE.
