VINTON - Police are searching for the man who robbed a Vinton convenience store. The Vinton Police Department tells TV9 that just after closing time Sunday night, a man approached a clerk in the parking lot of the John's Qwik Shop in downtown Vinton. The man displayed a gun and forced the clerk to reopen the store. Once inside, the suspect emptied the cash registers, took a carton of cigarettes and fled the scene.

The suspect is described as a young, black male, approximately 6' tall, thin build, wearing dark shoes, blue jeans with the thighs faded, a dark colored hooded jacket, and a black ball cap with "CSI" on it. The suspect's face was covered with what appeared to be a black shirt.

The suspect escaped with an undetermined amount of cash and no injuries were reported.

Anyone with any information about the robbery is urged to contact the Vinton Police Department at 319-472-2321.
