Economic Decline Slowing in Iowa

By Jillian Petrus

DES MOINES - Iowa's economy continues to shrink, but new state figures show the rate at which it's declining is slowing.

The Iowa Department of Revenue reports the Iowa Leading Indicators Index fell seven-tenths of a percent in May. That's less than the one percent drop the index measured in April.

On the negative side, the report shows four of eight indicators that make up the index posted their worst numbers in the index's ten year history.
