DAVENPORT (AP) - A Blue Grass woman has been sentenced to two years probation and six months home confinement for stealing money from a federal fund that assists coal miners with black lung disease and their dependent survivors.

Beverly Allers, 45, was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Davenport on Wednesday.

Officials with the U.S. attorney's office say Allers received funds from the Black Lung Reform Act between March 2000 and December 2005. Officials say Allers received nearly $37,000 that was intended for her mother, who died in 2000

Officials say Allers made false statements on various forms required by the Department of Labor while she continued to receive funds intended for her deceased mother.
