Six Charged in CR Meth Lab Investigation

CEDAR RAPIDS - Police have six people in custody after a methamphetamine investigation in Cedar Rapids.

Police arrived at 1552 Seventh Avenue Southeast around 8:00 Thursday night. They were responding on a report of a strong chemical smell.

When officers arrived, a man identified as Hooker Wayne Richey came outside with a bucket of meth ingredients, including hydrochloric acid. Witnesses say officers tackled him, who was injured and then taken away by ambulance.

Hooker Wayne Richy, 35, Christy Glassford, 29, Patricia Benters, 28, and Timothy Nelson, 21, all face drug charges. Roberta Layman, 41, and Tara Tomasello, 24, face charges of disorderly house.
