Crop Duster Plane Crash

WASHINGTON COUNTY - At 12:46 p.m. Wednesday afternoon the Washington County Communications Center received a 9-1-1 report of a small plane described as a crop duster that had crashed into a farm field in the 1800 block of Underwood Ave., approximately 6 miles North of Ainsworth.
When emergency responders arrived at the scene they discovered the pilot was out of the wreckage.
The pilot, John Koehn Newton, 39, of Mt. Pleasant, was transported to University Hospital by Washington County Ambulance personnel.
The plane was identified as a crop duster loaded with nitrogen and fuel was reported to be leaking from the plane. A Haz-Mat crew was called to the scene for clean-up.
