Motorcycle Accident Injures Mechanicsville Man

MECHANICSVILLE - A motorcycle crash in Cedar County sends one man to the hospital. The accident happened just after nine o'clock Saturday night near the intersection of First Street & Walnut Street in Mechanicsville.

The Iowa State Patrol tells KCRG.com that 45-year-old Armando Silva was traveling eastbound on First Street when he lost control of his motorcycle. Officials say Silva was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. He was taken by helicopter to the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, the extent of his injuries is not known.

Authorities believe alcohol contributed to the crash.
