Tri-States Man Injured in Motorcycle Accident

PLATTEVILLE, WI - One man is injured after a motorcycle accident in southwest Wisconsin. The Grant County Sheriff's Department says the accident happened around 2:00 Saturday afternoon about three miles south of Platteville.

Officials say Brian Tarkenton, 49, of Oregon, Wisconsin, was traveling southbound on County Highway "D" when he swerved to avoid a small animal. His motorcycle went into the ditch and overturned. Tarkenton was thrown a short distance from his motorcycle, he was not wearing a helmet.

Tarkenton was taken to Southwest Health Center in Platteville with possible head and chest injuries. Authorities aren't releasing any other details at this time.
