FAYETTE CO. - A motorcycle accident sends a Cedar Rapids man to the hospital. The accident happened shortly before seven o'clock Sunday evening just south of Elgin.

The Iowa State Patrol says 33-year-old Joshua John Martin, of Cedar Rapids, was heading south along Acorn Road/W-55 near the intersection with 200th Street. Officials believe Martin lost control of the motorcycle, crossed the northbound lane and ended up in the ditch. Martin, who wasn’t wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, was thrown from the bike.

Martin was taken to Palmer Hospital in West Union. His condition is not being released.
