CEDAR RAPIDS (AP) - An eastern Iowa man accused of robbing a woman last weekend faces more charges after he allegedly threatened to harm her during a court hearing.

David Washington, of Hiawatha, is charged with first-degree robbery. According to court records, he threatened to harm the woman and her children as he was making his initial appearance Monday in Linn County District Court.

Linn County Sheriff Brian Gardner says the woman was in the courtroom for another person's hearing.

Washington faces a new charge of first-degree harassment. He's also charged with tampering with a witness after officials say he made more threatening remarks about the woman to another person at the courthouse.

Washington remains in jail.
