Could Postville Immigrant Raid Have Been Prevented

POSTVILLE - Some say the problems in Postville could have been prevented by taking a hard-line approach to illegal immigration.

Norma Halverson is part of the anti-illegal immigration group the minutemen. She wants to raise awareness on the impact illegal immigrants have on Iowa and the U.S.

She's pushing for stricter enforcement of the laws in place and doesn't want illegal immigrants taking jobs from Iowans.

"I think they made Postville an example. There should probably be more raids in other places. They should check them all, if someone is here illegally, it's not right," says Halverson.

Halverson says employers should re-verify applicants before hiring them to make sure what happened in Postville doesn't happen again.
