AP - Part of Iowa Highway 144 in central Iowa is closed this afternoon because of a tanker truck accident.

Officials say the truck, which was hauling ethanol, went off the highway and into a ditch in southwestern Boone County, about three miles north of Perry.

The sheriff's office says the truck is on its side, and was leaking ethanol. A Hazmat crew is on the scene.

Jim Saunders of the Iowa Department of Public Safety says the highway will remained closed until the fuel can be loaded onto another truck.

The driver of the truck was taken to hospital. There was no immediate word on the driver's condition or the cause of the accident.
