CEDAR RAPIDS- Jose Rockiett's trial in connection with the serious injury to a Cedar Rapids police officer will remain a adult court case.

Rockiett, 17, faces charges of first degree robbery and willful injury causing serious injury. The latter charge resulted from his alleged beating of officer Tim Davis. Davis suffered a serious head injury from the attack in March.

Last week, Rockiett's attorney asked the judge to move the case back to juvenile court. But Judge Robert Sosalla has now denied that motion.

Rockiett's attorneys had argued that juvenile court was the proper place for trial of the 17-year-old. But the judge cited evidence of three forcible felonies in connection with the March incident in ruling that Rockiett should be tried as an adult.
