CEDAR RAPIDS - The Iowa Northern Railway has received a $25 million loan from the U.S. Department of Transportation.

The loan is part of $55 million that's expected to be used to improve 163 miles of railroad to ship bio fuels.

It is expected that shipping volumes will soar as bio fuel plants are beginning production along the line.

Currently the railway ships about 42,000 carloads, which is expected to grow to 120,000 carloads in the next five years.
